Lawrence M. Garfinkel

LAWRENCE M. GARFINKEL is a Principal at Talcott Law Group, PC. He has been a real estate attorney for over 25 years and has handled all forms of real estate transactions including purchases, sales, REO sales, refinances, short sales and commercial transactions. Mr. Garfinkel received his A.B. degree from Franklin& Marshall College in Lancaster, PA in 1987 where he was elected to the Black Pyramid Senior Honor Society and was a recipient of the A.V. Heister Prize in Government. He received his J.D. degree from the University of CT School of Law in 1990.

Mr. Garfinkel is a member of the Board of Directors of the CMBA and is the co-chair of the Legislative Committee. He is a member of the Strategic Planning Committee and the Closing and Compliance Committees of the CMBA as well. Larry is also a member of the Executive Committee of the CT Bar Association Real Property Section. He is a frequent writer of articles on real estate and mortgage-related matters for leading publications and is a frequent speaker for the CMBA, the Connecticut Bar Association and other real estate and mortgage industry organizations.

Michael J. Trella

Michael J. Trella focuses his practice on Real Estate (Residential and Commercial), Foreclosures/Foreclosure Defense, Collections, Estate Planning and Estate Administration. Mr. Trella received his Juris Doctorate from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2003 and his LLM from Western New England School of Law Estate Planning & Elder Law in 2008. He also attends the prestigious University of Miami’s Heckerling Institute of Estate Planning yearly.

Mr. Trella is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Elder Law and Probate Section and a member of NAELA (National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys). He has previously served on the Boards of the Literacy Volunteers of Central Connecticut and The Salvation Army of New Britain. He also serves on several Boards of 501(c)(3) organizations and remains active in the community of his home town of Meriden.

Kenneth Paskowitz, Of Counsel, is a dedicated and experienced attorney with over 40 years of practice in personal injury law. Kenneth graduated cum laude from the University of Connecticut in 1982 and from Western New England College School of Law in 1986, where he was a member of the Law Review. Currently a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Kenneth brings a depth of knowledge and a strong commitment to securing justice for his clients, whether in the courtroom or at the negotiating table.

Darrien D. Boone

Associate Attorney

Attorney Darrien D. Boone graduated from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2016 upon earning a full scholarship as a proud recipient of the Distinguished Scholar Award. Prior to attending law school, Attorney Boone obtained his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at Western New England University, where he was a member of the Dean’s List. Additionally, Attorney Boone graduated from Holyoke Community College and was the sole recipient of the Award for Excellence in Criminal Justice. In 2020, Attorney was admitted to the Connecticut Bar and has gained experience handling various legal matters, including but not limited to real estate, landlord/tenant disputes, child protection, family law, civil rights, criminal law, post-conviction, personal injury, and intellectual property. In 2025, Attorney Boone was admitted to the New York Bar and is currently eligible for admission to the New York Federal Bar, as well as the Connecticut Federal Bar. For charitable purposes and to help underrepresented individuals in low-income communities, Attorney Boone is a volunteer at the volunteer Lawyers Project.

Morris R. Borea, ESQ

Attorney Borea has tried over 25 civil jury cases to verdict, in State and Federal Courts, in multiple jurisdictions. He has also tried over 50 bench trials to judgment, including over 10 tax appeal trials. He has appeared and argued cases before the Connecticut Appellate and Supreme Courts. Attorney Borea was invited on two separate occasions to lecture before the Statewide Association of Municipal Assessors on “The Trial of a Tax Appeal”. He was a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Continuing Legal Education Committee from 1996 to 2020. He was recognized as a Super Lawyer in Litigation by his peers from 2012 to 2020. Attorney Borea has chaired or presented at over 20 Statewide Seminars on topics ranging from jury selection, expert testimony and trial practice. 

Matthew J. Cholewa

Matthew J. Cholewa is Of Counsel with the law firm of Talcott Law Group, PC. in Farmington, Connecticut, where he focuses on commercial real estate transactions, real estate related litigation, land use/zoning matters, and expert witness work.   Matt has spent about half his career in private practice and the other half in the title insurance industry, where he has worked as local and national Underwriting Counsel, Agency Services Manager and Claims Counsel.   He received his B.S. degree in Engineering Summa Cum Laude and his M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was a member of the Virginia Law Review

Mr. Cholewa is a member of the Connecticut and Massachusetts bars, is a Past Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Real Property section, is an elected member of the Board of Governors of the Connecticut Bar Association, and is a Past President of the New England Land Title Association.   He is also an active member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.
